St. Norbert College Hosts Firecracker Run/Walk
The first annual Firecracker Run/Walk takes place this Thursday, July 4: part Fourth of July celebration, party healthy fun, part fundraiser for the college’s athletics programs.
The 4-mile run/walk starts at Schneider Stadium on Lost Dauphin Road and loops through campus before doubling back to the stadium.
Participants in the Firecracker Run/Walk receive a commemorative T-shirt and awards go to the top three finishers in each of 12 age groups. A special award will also be given to the overall male and female winners.
The Firecracker Run is the newest of three annual fundraisers in support of an athletics program that is, happily, something of a victim of its own success. As Green Knight teams keep winning and move into post-season competition, expenses grow apace. Along with the Firecracker, popular events like the Men’s Basketball Steak Fry and the Green Knight Golf Classic support their respective programs.
All proceeds from these events benefit the college’s 20 intercollegiate sports and the 400 student-athletes who play for St. Norbert. Community members, alumni, fans, friends and families are invited to register and join in any of these programs.
The Firecracker Run/Walk is sponsored by Associated Bank and Sports Radio 107.5/1400 WDUZ The Fan.
