Looking Back at Five Generous Years

The Rev. Andrew Ciferni ’64 hit the ground running when he arrived at St. Norbert, and never lost his stride in the five years that followed.

On loan from his home community at Daylesford, the Norbertine returns to the Pennsylvania abbey this summer. As his last semester on campus came to a close, he took the chance to look back over his ministry at the college – a ministry that extended well beyond the Center for Norbertine Studies, where he was appointed as director. He says, “I don’t think there is any area of college life where I’m not known or respected, and I really prize and cherish that very much.”

A history of love
As well as his service as director of the Center for Norbertine Studies, Ciferni taught in the theology and religious studies discipline. He enjoyed educating faculty and staff about the life and enduring work of Norbert of Xanten. He was a faithful supporter of college athletics as part of his ministry to Green Knight student-athletes – and was proud of his role as founding advisor of the college’s Spikeball Club.

“I think I want to be remembered as a person who fell in love with everyone here, and who accepted love,” he says. “And I think that has happened.”

Ciferni continues his service to St. Norbert College with his re-appointment to the board of trustees.
