On and Off the Page: Your Multimedia College Magazine
St. Norbert College Magazine editor Susan Allen shares some of the web-exclusive content featured in the Summer 2013 issue of St. Norbert College Magazine, available online.
An art professor, an untold NFL story and one of the most recognizable logos in sports: It’s a mix almost bound to generate interest. Our video account of the origins of the Green Bay Packers’ iconic “G” at the hands of a young John Gordon (Art) – already heading toward 10,000 hits on YouTube – is just one of the web exclusives offered in the summer issue of St. Norbert College Magazine online.
Gordon’s initial sketch for the Packers was created back in the 1960s when he was a St. Norbert student interning at Lambeau Field under “Dad” Braisher, Packers equipment manager. Fifty years on, our students still benefit from great internships at the Packers organization and other major employers in the area – but not everything at St. Norbert has stayed the same. Whatever your year of graduation, you might enjoy a glimpse at the college of today in SNC in Two Minutes, a fast-paced video that sums up the 2013 experience. It’s a piece we borrowed from Admissions, where it’s presented to prospective students making their first visit to campus.
In fact, we invite you to click from this “first-impression” piece, through St. Norbert in Season to A Day to Celebrate, for a tour (via Memory Lane) through the spring semester to Commencement 2013. Finish up with a nod to our eight living generals (of 12 alumni who have attained that rank), honored at Commencement this year and in this video profile.
And there’s more:
- Changing How We Buy: The Mobile Social Generation. This essay from marketing maven Dana Vanden Heuvel ’99 is an extension of our cover story, Socially Connected, which examines the coming of age of social media and its legitimacy as a maturing career path – one in which many St. Norbert alums are engaged.
- In Conversation and Song. Gerard Edery, a specialist in the music of the Sephardic Jews worldwide, is a master musician himself. We were able to tape this interview when he was a Miller Lecture guest earlier this year.
- Changes Across Higher Education Set the Agenda for Coming Conversations. Bridget Krage O’Connor ’93 surveys the field of higher education and identifies topics that will help steer the continuing conversation at St. Norbert, too.
