The future is here! Last century’s favorite science fiction topic – robotics – is today’s revolutionary technology. Robots are key elements of cutting edge technologies in nearly every industry on the planet and harnessing them for solutions to tomorrow’s challenges is an exciting proposition. If you want to ride this world-changing wave, you can do so with a robotics minor at SNC.
This program provides hands-on, multidisciplinary experience in robotics systems enabling students to pursue their major field of study – engineering physics, for instance – while gaining the skills and experience in robotics and automation sought after in manufacturing, defense, research and development, robotics sales/service, and a host of other industries.
At the completion of the robotics minor, students will be able to analyze application challenges, modify or adapt hardware and software to solve application challenges, and be able to join hardware and software to build autonomous or semi-autonomous robots to complete tasks.
You can complement your Bachelor of Science degree with a robotics minor at SNC. Courses for this minor explore a range of topics, including engineering design, software engineering, machine organization/assembly language and more.
At SNC, you’ll have the opportunity to conduct collaborative research alongside your professors in the Gehl-Mulva Science Center’s state-of-the-art labs. The skills you'll acquire and the personal relationships you’ll build with our faculty can open doors to college internship positions sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy — and at some of the most prestigious laboratories and graduate schools in the country.
