Meet STAR Student Staff
STAR Program Coordinator

My name is Grace Krause and I am a Junior English Education double major. I come from Green Bay, WI, so fairly close to St. Norbert College.
In the near future, I plan to work in the Green Bay Area school district, to help students in low income communities and situations find the right resources and be their reason for graduating. Within the education program, I hope to break the "cradle to prison pipeline" and get all students on the right track, and ensure all my students have a bright future ahead of them. I never want a student to believe that they are never good enough to succeed. I also plan to eventually get my masters degree as well.
In my free time, I like to engage in social activities on campus, I am an active member of a social group called BUD on campus, I am part of the Black Student Union on campus, I love to sing, go grab a cup coffee, and spend time with my friends and family.
I joined STAR because despite the close proximity, I was the only one from my high school class attending St. Norbert College, and would initially feel like an outsider. And due to my background, I felt that I would not necessarily fit in with the scene here on campus. It allowed me an outlet for people like me and for me to find friends and a safe space before school could start. It also helped me find resources that I maybe wouldn't have found if I didn't join STAR.
My experience as a STAR student has been amazing. I can confidently say that STAR has made my college experience so much better both as a student and staff. Due to the program I have found resources and staff that have helped me through so much. I have also made life long friends that I can consider family. My hope for supporting the STAR program is to watch it flourish and to give the same experience to an incoming freshman as it gave me. And hopefully hear that this program will live years on after I am gone from this school.

My name is Marcus Mittelstadt and I am a junior, Sociology major and originally from Round Lake Illinois. In my free time I like to participate in social activities on campus. I am an active member in the fraternity Kappa Sigma, the Vice President of our Black Student Union and I am a multi on the track team. I love to listen to music, grab food with friends and hang with family.
I joined STAR because I wanted to find more students of color on campus. It allowed me to find people like myself that made the transition much easier. My experience as a STAR student has been incredible. I would be lying if I said STAR has not made a huge difference in my college experience. From the program I found out what faculty and staff are there for me and my best friends. I am so close with to this day. My hope is the STAR program can continue being a resource to all students of color on campus and provide them with a space to feel heard, loved, represented and safe.
