Do you love to examine a problem from every angle in order to find the most effective solution? Engineers are innovators who utilize logic and problem-solving to understand complex systems. SNC emphasizes creative problem-solving through our liberal-arts core curriculum and advanced math and science coursework, so you’ll start your engineering studies with a strong base of knowledge.
When you follow the pre-engineering track at St. Norbert College, you combine studies in math and physics with other science disciplines of your choice. Pre-engineering students at SNC often choose to major in chemistry, physics or mathematics. These degree paths strengthen the skills you need for a job as an engineer, and set you up for success if you choose to attend graduate school for a Master of Engineering degree.
Some SNC pre-engineering students complete their core coursework here, and then transfer to another school to earn a specialized engineering degree. Others use SNC’s pre-engineering track to enhance a complementary major, such as chemistry. Whatever your path, a SNC education will prepare you to meet your goals in engineering.
Want to get into a lab and see physics in action? At SNC, you can! You’ll receive one-on-one attention from your professors as you work through the pre-engineering track. Our small class sizes mean that you’ll receive personalized attention in your intro-level math and science courses, something few engineering schools can offer. You’ll gain a firm understanding of basic concepts that will help you as you work toward your degree.
Engage in collaborative research projects in engineering with your professors – frequently with financial support from national organizations.

Engineers can choose to specialize in aeronautical, agricultural, biomedical, chemical, civil, electrical, industrial, mechanical or nuclear engineering. Within these specialities, you’ll decide whether you want to work in the private sector, for the government, for a nonprofit organization, as an educator, or in a research capacity.
