What could possibly be more interesting than the study of life itself? From the tiniest microorganisms to the tallest trees, biologists investigate the mysteries of life. Their discoveries help balance ecosystems, restore the environment, feed the hungry and cure disease.
Biology courses at St. Norbert College explore life at all levels, from amoebas to ecosystems. Our classroom lab experiences and collaborations with faculty will nurture your excitement for this vital research and fieldwork, while developing your skill in the scientific method.
At SNC, you’ll choose one of two concentrations for a Bachelor of Science degree in biology:
Many of our students also choose to minor in biology — the rigorous approach to research complements majors in other fields like chemistry, education, computer science, business administration and even communication and media studies.
Biology majors at SNC don’t have to wait until graduate school to start doing research. In fact, you can begin working on academic research with professors as a first-year student at SNC using our state-of-the art facilities and cutting-edge equipment. Some research is funded with grants and scholarships.
SNC has a chapter of Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta), a national biology society for students. TriBeta hosts speakers, participates in biology-related volunteer work and helps guide students toward careers in biology.
