Why is the sky blue? How does a caterpillar become a butterfly? Why do volcanoes erupt? Some of the first questions you ever asked were about the natural world. Get ready to tackle even bigger questions about our world — and the life that exists within it — by majoring in one of St. Norbert College’s exceptional programs in our division of natural and social sciences.
In our natural science courses, you’ll study in the state-of-the-art Gehl-Mulva Science Center (GMS) — one of the most impressive science facilities on any liberal arts campus in the Midwest. GMS houses the physics, math, psychology, earth science, biology and chemistry disciplines. You’ll have the chance to experiment in 45 (!) different teaching and research labs, with cutting-edge equipment ready for you to use. At SNC, we give you everything you need to excel in the natural sciences.
Natural sciences majors can pursue careers as everything from astronomers, scientists, chemical engineers and conservation biologists to energy industry analysts, actuaries, software developers and quantum physicists. In addition, many of our alumni from natural sciences majors go on to earn advanced degrees in health or engineering fields as SNC has an excellent track record for grad school prep and placement.
Our natural sciences alumni work in a wide range of industries, from medical technology and pharmaceuticals to insurance and finance, and from industrial chemicals and mining to technology and manufacturing. Jobs in the natural sciences span a variety of disciplines, but what they have in common is a focus on the empirical scientific world.
In addition, many SNC students get a jump-start on their careers with our pre-professional programs.

SNC offers a divisional major in natural sciences, allowing you to take courses across multiple disciplines in the major. For example, you could major in natural sciences to tailor your college courses toward a particular professional program. SNC supports you through the course selection process with practical guidance from an academic advisor.
If you’re still deciding on a college major, that’s completely understandable! College is about learning how to build the life you want to lead, and developing skills to grow into a fulfilling career. Spark your interest with SNC’s 80+ programs of study — including 30+ majors and many pre-professional paths.
